Note on the Path-integral Variational Approach in the Many-body Theory
I discuss how a variatonal approach can be extended to systems of identical particles (in particular fermions) within the path-integral treatment. The applicability of the many-body variational principle for path integrals is illustrated for different model systems, and is shown to crucially depend on whether or not a model system possesses the proper symmetry with respect to permutations of id...
متن کاملAutomated Exploration of Free Energy Landscapes Based on Umbrella Integration.
We present a new approach for automated exploration of free energy landscapes on the basis of the umbrella integration (UI) method. The method to search points in the landscape relies on the normal distributions and gradients of the potential of mean force (PMF) obtained from UI calculations. We applied this approach to the alanine dipeptide in solution and demonstrated that the equilibrium and...
متن کاملFunctional-Integral Based Perturbation Theory for the Malthus-Verhulst Process
We apply a functional-integral formalism for Markovian birth and death processes to determine asymptotic corrections to mean-field theory in the Malthus-Verhulst process (MVP). Expanding about the stationary meanfield solution, we identify an expansion parameter that is small in the limit of large mean population, and derive a diagrammatic expansion in powers of this parameter. The series is ev...
متن کاملPath Integral Density Functional Theory
A new method ( PI-DFT ) which combines path integrals and density functional theory is proposed as a pathway to many fields of physics. Within path integral theory it is possible to construct particle densities without explicitly calculating individual wave functions. These densities can directly be used as an input to energy density functionals. Thus our method makes full use of the theorem of...
متن کاملAnalysis of spatiotemporal signals: a method based on perturbation theory.
We present a method of analyzing spatiotemporal signals with respect to its underlying dynamics. The algorithm aims at the determination of spatial modes and a criterion for the number of interacting modes. Simultaneously, a way of filtering of nonorthogonal noise is shown. The method is discussed by examples of simulated stable fixpoints and the Lorenz attractor.
